What I will say is that the miracle berry is finally getting the attention it deserves thanks to Chef Cantu and people who dare to change the way we think about food.

Guest judge and author of Modernist Cuisine, Nathan Myhrvold inspires the chefs to get creative with delivering traditional flavors in a very modern way. There won’t be any spoilers here however we will say we agree with Mr. Myhrvold that Chef Jones represented his talents well and that was one heck of a dish. This wasn’t the first time they talked about the berry’s benefits however this time they did use the fresh fruit.

Another thing that was new on the show was Dr. Oz had an audience member who loves candy try a strawberry after mberry. She described the experience as delicious and even felt shocked that the lemon face wasn’t needed when it came to the lemon test.

The final test for the audience member was vinegar and to everyone’s surprise it went down rather well with both people saying it tasted pretty good.

We love seeing the miracle berry’s benefits being shared and hopefully one day there will be a practical way to use this amazing natural product everyday. We’re talking to you Chef Homaro Cantu

Recently scientists in Japan have figured out how the active glycoprotien in miracle berry, Miraculin, transforms sour foods into tasting deliciously sweet. The study finds that Miraculin binds strongly to the sweet receptors on your tongue but it does not activate the receptors at neutral pH.

Once sour foods are eaten miraculin changes shape in such a way that it turns on the sweet receptors it is bound to. This creates the perception of an ultra-sweet sensation without affecting the other flavors in the food.

After the sour food is swallowed, miraculin returns back into it’s original shape, but it remains bound to the sweet receptor for hours. They believe this strong binding relationship explains the molecule’s lasting effect.

Too bad the new findings don’t explain how improve the shelf life of the miracle berry but stay tuned as we are working hard on changing that.

So this morning I received some wonderful emails about people seeing mberry on the Dr. Oz Show. So I decided to rolled out and check to see if our sales manager heard anything. With a shocked look on her face the first thing she said to me was “what just happened?!?”.

Minutes later even our family and friends started calling us to place orders. Lets just say now we’ve stopped counting the number of orders and we’re quickly running out of mberry

Chef Cantu plans to make the berry the main feature at the newly opened iNG restaurant right next to the very popular Moto.

At mberry we’re always excited to see what Chef Cantu has planned next but we believe we caught a little preview of it in this recent article “inhalable miracle berries” sounds like Cantu has done it again. The article also mentions the life changing potential that berry might have and amazing research that is being done.

“My goal is to spread ideas,” Mr. Cantu said. “Trends always start at the top. If people accept what’s happening at iNG’s kitchen table, it could be a game changer, altering the way we eat.”

Frozen miracle berry Vs mberry

Today I saw Rachael Ray talking about miracle berries with Ted Allen on her morning show. I loved the reaction of her test group which did the lemon test after trying the berry and I thought Ted Allen did a good job of explaining the back-story behind the miracle fruit. There was one thing that was briefly mentioned that I want to talk about and have everyone help me set the record straight.

So the L.A. Times did a comparison of our miracle fruit tablets last year with an article titled “Miracle fruit taste test: berry vs. tablet” and the results was both the berry and the tablet were equally intense. So what do we really know now after hearing that the tablets are not as effective as the frozen fruit? You be the judge and tell us if Ted Allen was right for saying the frozen berries are better.

On a side note since we’ve been receiving complaints about other brands of miracle berry products please beware of cheap imitation tablets and continue to enjoy mberry responsibly. If you want to check out the Rachael Ray clips on miracle berry just click the link below.
